What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Overall, most of the games in this collection are fun, even 20+ years later, and I am glad to see them come back with good netcode with QOL improvements and other modern novelties we've come to expect, but with all the issues I mentioned above...
Carried over from the previous collection, this one also offers CRT filters, save states, concept art/arcade flyers, a music player, online play, a modern practice mode and the ability to switch between the Japanese and international versions of games and Steam achievements.
It's specially frustrating in the case of games like Power Stone 1/2, who are pretty barren by themselves, specially the latter since the already simple gameplay from the original was further simplified and there are no Arcade endings.
All the special moves look very fancy and the soundtrack has some neo classical metal licks that sound suspiciously like 90s Symphony X.
You don't have to worry about finding ROMS, setting up graphics, or even what moves your characters do.
Definitely awesome interface for newbies that help to simplify the game a little.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
