On one hand, I recommend the game for anyone who wants to continue the story of the Erebonia arc and see it to its conclusion in Cold Steel 4.
Now the gameplay is amazing.
Combat has been made a bit more snappy with mapping actions to buttons, not to mention the graphics overhaul giving it a true HD look (albeit some areas are prone to frame drops).
Even if the underlying models and animations still show limitations, Cold Steel III makes a big leap with more voiced scenes, better framing in cutscenes, more dynamic camera work, and stronger use of the soundtrack.
heads up: steam says "mostly playable with your controller" and also says that this is incompatible with a steam deck. it works absolutely fine with both an xbox controller and with the steam deck; you may just need to set up some things on the controller launch thing when you run the game for the first time (on both pc and steam deck).
