The cosmetics grind is tedious (randomized loot chests are a slog), and NetherRealm's microtransactions feel tacked-on because they are — but none of it's pay-to-win, which is the difference between "annoying" and "dealbreaker." The roster is solid, online works, local multiplayer is a blast, and the game runs clean enough on Steam Deck.
