For me, after giving it two chances, 10 hours of playtime each, I can confidently say that there are way too many things wrong with the actual gameplay for me to recommend this game.
I'm an artist, so I really appreciate the 2D, hand-drawn visuals.
You can play Spiritfarer for it's mechanics, art style, sound track, mostly frictionless gameplay, and fun progression system and if it only had those things it would be a good game; it would still be a recommend.
i took the time to 100% the game because the characters and story deserve every ounce of my time with it. very rarely do i play story games like this again but i can already see myself sitting down with friends and family to play it together in the future. especially since this game does have co-op, i just didn't get to experience that aspect of it. i cant imagine this game being any less fun with the help of another. spiritfarer quickly became special to me and i think i played it at a time where i really needed it.
I played the game on the Steam Deck, where it ran smoothly throughout my playthrough.
