What players think
The recurring themes across 161 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
In terms of open-world exploration, it achieves it differently than Freelancer did: rather than travelling between systems, in Starlink the main characters travel between planets within just one system; Atlas.
The gameplay and overall experience are good but the game might become a bit repetitive after few hours tho.
On a technical side the graphics are nice, great performances, it's fluid and smooth.
Character's have decent background stories and the voice acting is great and doesn't get annoying as you fly around saving the star system.
Also online coop or versus multiplayer could have been a great addition.
Starlink's modernity gives it improvements over Freelancer, however, including built-in controller support, more immersive graphics, and multi-platform ports, with Proton making playing it easier than an HD-patched Freelancer on the Steam Deck.
