The story also is super good, not quite as whacky or horror as I would have thought from the trailer, but it's so super unique and interesting.
Combat is fun, planned, but fast and there are a few ways to do it and character variations seem to be plentiful enough to potentially open the game for replayability.
graphics are pixel art, in a good way. so is the map. not too pixely
Combined with a bleak soundtrack and a post-apocalyptic mania where everyone casually consumes organs and flesh that seemingly grows everywhere to heal and nourish themselves really hammers home the striking overall ambience.
OH don't forget the game has split screen co-op!!
By the way, i played with gamepad, it is well optimized.
