The most visible addition in Dimensions EX is the ability to instantly switch between classic 2D pixel art and updated 3D visuals at the press of a button.
Don't measure its value in total playtime, but in replayability and skill ceiling.
There's also simultaneous local co-op to play with a friend using two controllers.
It works well with my PS4 controller when I start the game in Big Picture Mode.
