Starting out with the (many) good points, one of the elements carrying BD to its Masterpiece status is, undoubtedly, the art direction and sheer quality of visuals, ranging from 3D models in dialogue boxes, to the extremely well made CGI cutscenes.

Even when things don't make any sense, the visuals and design make most of the intended message pretty clear. (ex: I have no idea how the Chiznyama can use a forcefield or build a space ark, but from the character design to their dialogue, it becomes clear that they aren't spacefaring explorers, they just want to escape a world they don't feel part of anymore)
