HeXen II

While the combat was fun, the sheer amount of back-and-forth with items, switches and other things was occasionally a bit overwhelming.

Especially the first hub and Egypt ones, they are very mysterious. it also helps a lot that Hexen 2 is more detailed, having houses filled with furnite, for example, thus making exploration more interesting.

Hexen is a metal as hell world with a very ominous and dark atmosphere, crazy good playable characters and awesome enemies, great music, combat, the imagination; these games were clearly designed with passion and heart.

The graphics feel crisper and better, the level themes and textures are better, so the overall feel is better.

Lengthy campaign is chock-full of clever enemies and differing themes (medieval, amazonian, egyptian, greek, etc) spread out over several "world" hubs as you take on the horsemen of the apocalypse.

The soundtrack is pleasing and the aesthetic is still genuinely beautiful in its own way such that the world feels vibrant.
