The controls are great with a PS4 controller and the gameplay is practically identical.
The textures have been updated and the models for all the characters look pretty modern, but by design you can still figure out this game came out in the PS2 era quite easily as the world lacks the details and scenery present in modern games and you have things like invisible walls and fixed camera angles that will constantly remind you of the game's age.
Different enemy types mixed in-between regular baddies do bring some thought in the combat, but once you figure out the patterns you can just rush trough everything.
The game has a good, not very hard story, but what I truly loved is that it is full of references ("little" spoilers ahead).
The lighthearted tone is supported by a whimsical soundtrack and energetic voice lines that help bring the chaos to life.
The game was played with a controller - Xbox 360 and the controls were very handy, so i recommend to play with a controller.
