Still, I appreciated the straightforwardness of this remaster plus it does have some upgrades which might not have been that easy without the KEX engine port, stuff like the animation improvements on characters coupled with the increase in detail on them which are better than the Rebirth mod models, & weapons feel nicer with the models & animations & sway.
Also appreciated are the subtle model lighting techniques and other shading methods which fit the artstyle while enhancing material quality, cubemaps on glass look era appropriate and neat, metals have a subtle shader, some organic stuff too (BOTM though seems like a minor downgrade).
It doesn’t feel as good to play as the System Shock 1 remake, but if I understand correctly, SS1 remake featured gameplay improvements over its original version, whereas SS2 remaster is just a graphical improvement.
This is pretty fun in co-op, having to share the resources and such.
The vault has some fun stuff to peruse, interviews and even the OST to listen to.
There are also achievements, mod support, and an online multiplayer mode for up to four players.
