a lot of the charm of other games like it is gone with the lack of "characters". while the game doesnt need these; its more about the gameplay, the characters add a lot of charm to the games and add a distinguishing feature to each of the players for when they succeed making it more satisfying for when you take out another player.
There are some small gameplay tweaks which make the game feel slightly different and a lot of good content is still in the works, hence Early Access.
