probably the *most* improvements are in gameplay. the earlier games didn' t even have an attack button, you just walked at enemies to attack, and your stats would determine a bit of how hard you were to hit and how much damage you'd take and you had some say in your stats with gear and other things.

The new open world concept I think actually turned out pretty good with of course now having multiplayer.

Coop is also great, but the only complaint I have is how high level characters can share their gear with very low level characters, essentially shortening progression time to nil if you have a couple friends who play.

The game had many improvements, especially in the combat system and in the various classes of weapons to be dropped, through scaling based on statistics.

As in the previous games, graphics are colorfull and well defined, every armor, helmet and shield have thier own look, and there are wide sort of different enemies and locations with their own style.
