What players think
The recurring themes across 241 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The art is amazing, the story is really interesting and the sprites are well done, even NPC character's will often have individual spritework if they aren't in uniform, even if they're just a passing character, they got attention and detail, not just a recolouring.
Gameplay exists primarily to support the narrative rather than stand on its own.
Gameplay has been predominately bog standard box puzzles and "combat" is basic enough to make even the 1980's Ys games feel deep, and I get that that's not the focus but ramming into things while stock RPG maker sound effects play doesn't do much.
While the environmental visuals can feel dated or utilitarian, the character artwork does an effective job of conveying emotion, especially during pivotal moments.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 5 sampled reviews and are not shown.
