ΔV: Rings of Saturn

I was worried the gameplay would be too complicated and too fast paced for someone not experienced with this type of 2D space games, but it is surprisingly simple and while the initial dashboard filled with stats will overwhelm you (tutorial isn't very comprehensive, use Discord community and wiki for info), all give you some useful reading and you can learn about them one by one at your own pace.

I like how they can fill in the gaps of gameplay with some story and some content.

If you like Starsector, KSP, asteroid mining, space combat, awesome developers or just smashing into asteroids because you forgot how hard it is to slow down, this game won't disappoint you.

In fact there's a whole menu for tweaking values on your ship that I use extensively.

If you take the time to figure it out, the difficulty in flying the ship adds a lot to the immersion.

The games overall tone: across its audio, visuals, and themes, is so terrifically consistent and enjoyable to participate in.
