The visuals, which I originally thought to be bland compared to the original, started to really come to life with the later buildings and in the detailed interactions the aliens have with the various objects in the rooms.

oh and let's not forget: the single player missions are just an extended tutorial just like with the original startopia. sandbox and multiplayer are the real deal. if you don't care about that it's game over after 10 missions and about 20 hours.
