What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
I would say that this evolving gameplay made me feel as if I was getting more powerful and gave combat a nice flow as things sped up and as I gained new items.
Excluding the ending, which I will elaborate on below, I would argue this game is so excellent in almost everything it does that it comes just short of being genre defining.
This is particularly true in the original release, which featured 8-bit graphics and sound design that mirrored those the MSX was capable of.
The controls are better, the graphics are better, the puzzles generally make more sense and clues for them are organized in a way that makes knowing what area they reference possible.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
