Floor Kids more than re-sparks my interest in the toe-tapping, head-nodding gameplay of rhythm gaming with a much broader and more engaging system that trusts you to choreograph the action with no limits outside of your own creative styling.
Kid Koala's soundtrack for the game is alright, although the obvious template for the songs (the same BPM range, the same structure of freestyle dance verses and scripted tap-rhythm choruses) reveals itself to be too repetitive when you look at it as a whole.
Instead the funk and the groove is summoned from the creative depths of your own mind, and the slick dancing of your own fingers on the controller.
There's a host of varied characters to play, the hand-drawn art style perfectly captures the motion in a way that pixel-art would never have done; and above all else it just feels really satisfying to pull out a sick combo.
It would be great to see this title offer more such as a workshop for others to create songs or an online multiplayer.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
