You might be able to tell from the cartooney art style that this is a comedic, satirical, take on Lovecraft.
While ideally played in co-op mode over some drinks with friends, the game also delivers a great single player experience, balancing a pleasant dose of light dark humor in the Lovecraftian vein, with the surprisingly challenging endgame of selecting the class which makes best use of your stats.
It can seem frustrating and arbitrary at first, and some skills improvements are harder to come by than others, but it is definitely fun and well written, and I could see how playing with (and backstabbing) friends' efforts in local multiplayer could be enjoyable as well.
