What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The character models are the same, the weapons are the same (though mostly useful, like being able to customize a ready-made weapon loadout), and there are even fewer maps, supposedly to focus on the 'story mode.'
There's lots of variety in both locations and objectives to do which is the only thing keeping me coming back because it certainly wasn't the gameplay.
It is a beautifully unique piece of Valve history that transformed a hardcore, online-only multiplayer sweat-fest into a deeply comforting, accessible single-player experience.
The graphics are super lame and blocky, and the environment textures are blurry.
- The game will run flawlessly at a locked 100 FPS on absolutely any PC today.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
