Highly recommend playing vanilla until you get sick of the limitations of the mech customization then looking into YAML and it's sub mods, the expanded customization and added mechs adds an insane amount of replayability and toys to blow up enemies with.

Wading through an urban area watching everything disintegrating as you pass through it, the satisfying audio design as you let rip with some big weapons and your field of view is rocked back by the recoil, doing a Kool-Aid man through a wall and blasting to pieces the enemy that was on the other side.
