Rogue Eclipse

Gameplay is king at all times here and Rogue Eclipse certainly doesn’t try and pad itself with fluff to extend its running time.

This really does make all the difference to the enjoyment here, when I was dying to stupid mistakes as opposed to jank hitboxes or floaty controls.

A fun space blaster of a game, controls are smooth (playing with gamepad) and the combat is satisfying once you master the drifting/strafing runs!

Ultimately, my only lingering question surrounding Rogue Eclipse right now is how it will balance its longevity versus difficulty, but I can say that I am excited to get back to it and make progress in the story and try newly unlocked ship part combinations, which is a good sign for any game with this type of premise!

This will be the soundtrack to you blowing up waves of enemy vessels, avoiding barrages of cluster missiles, and inevitably: your frustration at being turned into fine paste by an errant rock or rail gun round to the face.

Meanwhile, on the graphics front, the unique art direction (especially for your ship) and the Unreal-powered visuals shine; combat is almost always loaded with shiny particle effects, explosions, space debris, and contrasting background nebulae.
