MIGHTY GUNVOLT BURST

Gameplay is a big improvement from its predecessor, not only feeling more like a proper crossover game, but one of the defining features is its robust weapon customization system which allows you tweak your weapons and abilities, depending on your chosen character.

I did my final run as one of the rivals, he has a passive where his HP permanently drains but he also steals HP from enemies, and his special ability is a melee attack which is super strong.

As much as I like the roster of characters this game has to offer, but as someone who played this a lot before on 3DS, I feel very burnt out by this game at this point.

The gameplay loop is addictive and the characters/difficulty/customization give it so much replayability.

Audio-wise it's also a retro throwback to the 8-bit gaming days featuring the retro soundtrack from Mighty No. 9 with some subtle adjustments to the instrumentation used to spice things up, and many of the sound effects (some re-used from the original Mighty Gunvolt) complementing the neo-retro style of the game.

Visually it's a nice mash-up of 8-bit and 16-bit sensibilities along with some subtle dynamic lighting in some spots to give some depth to the the overall graphics, making a huge step-up from the original Mighty Gunvolt and the sort of thing that kinda reminds you of PlayStation and Saturn-era platformers utilizing the advanced capabilities to evolve 2D sprite-based graphics.
