It's open world and facking huge, you can control any ship of the era which the game has many and fairly well represented, (except for first campaign ship), oh yeah you can also control as many ships as you please (after you put your main story captains down they go slower but who cares when you can conquer a port with a fleet of 250 frigates).

The graphics are nice and classic, but just like Caribbean Hunt this game is super grindy if you don't want to immediately die in the campaign, and the actual story seems like it is written by a 14-year-old who is failing language arts.
