The Iron Oath

The beginning is great, the tutorial and intro sequence has been massively improved and makes the game-specific mechanics very easy to understand, Adventurer difficulty feels good if slightly on the easy side for someone new to this sub-genre but a longtime fan of turn based/hex-based tactical RPGs.

The campaign seems interesting and the writing is good, but a bit "fantasy standard".

And the combat screen shows off beautiful fully-animated 2D models of our characters and the enemies, with grids clearly marked and paths the characters take clearly shown (which is important as you really need to watch our for environmental hazards when you walk).

Love that there were so many choices (including a custom one) for difficulty.

The different classes and abilities create a lot of possibilities when building your roster, which translates into plenty of different opproaches during combat.

Though I liked the premise, the build customization, the pixel graphics (which fully grow on you and the effects are ultimately quite satisfying) and some of the pick up/put down energy that generally comes with rouge-likes, I got frustrated.
