Still, when all’s said and done, the excellent storytelling and deeply rewarding gameplay overpower the hiccups.
The combat system is a turned based RPG style combat system ripped straight from A Legionary's Life with a lot of fun improvements.
But what it makes up for with a slight drop in quality, it makes up for with its branching storylines, that diverge MASSIVELY and the game's story being MUCH, MUCH longer with multiple endings.
It's the way HWR difficulty and the leveling of your profile goes so well with progressing through the different obstacles in and out of combat.
This is very nice, as depending on how your character develops run-by-run, some story routes may be more accessible / suitable for your character.
The visuals are hand-drawn and stylized, giving the game a gritty aesthetic that supports its tone.
