What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Today, I’m writing about the Steam debut of Cherrymochi, a developer which also ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for Tokyo Dark in 2015, but obviously preferred to release their project after two more years of development.
I am honestly not a fan of full replayability in story-based games, but more importantly, if a game wants to incorporate this system then at least don't sacrifice the length of the game.
► Audio, pretty great OST for an indie game and overall sound effects work great in installing the game's ambiance.
Construct 2, a “HTML5-based 2D game editor” is powering Tokyo Dark but I admit that I am not acquainted to this particular graphics engine.
I would of prefered having controller support - like in the Alpha given to backers last year - but its not a deal breaker for me.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
Should you buy it now?
