I love it as you can set the number of turns to be unlimited and just play as an open-ended sandbox game.

It's still a surprisingly fun game for its age, with lots of flair and charm provided by the retro graphics, the immersive music and soundscape, a simplistic but solid tactical system, and the brilliant addition of the daily (weekly?) gazette with its witty and informative articles.
