I went into this expecting a Descent-like game and instead got something like arcade-shooter Starfox 64 as if inspired by Descent and aiming to becoming a multiplayer battle cult classic.
Still, after all of that above which might sound intimidatingly fundamental to ruin an experience, this game deserves credit for having juicy combat with satisfying effects and sounds, pretty levels with nice loops and lights and different textures and themes, coloured glows for projectiles that light up the area and send enemies ricocheting around the environment exploding, decent enemy variety, many different weapons with their own fun feel to them, and the flying is enjoyable, fast and fluid and the levels are great.
The story is a bit 90's barebones, a cheesy backdrop, but still, the flow of missions, the objectives, the progression is solid enough to motivate someone to keep pushing onwards.

Rough around the edges with understandable 90's design decisions here and there, but just a lot of fun as a retro 6DOF FPS.
Widescreen and high resolution support, support for high frame rates and high monitor refresh rates, some updates to the graphics (AA, AO, improved particle effects, etc.), Mac and Linux support, updated HUD, automap, updated multiplayer support with lobbies, controller support with wheel weapon selections, etc.

Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 5 sampled reviews and are not shown.
