The art style is really cute for a horror game, the plot is interesting enough to make you wonder what will happen next, and the atmosphere really make you feel like one lone kid slowly ventures into the unknown darkness.
Midnight Shadows also uses sound effects only to maintain its immersive atmosphere.
The option of exploring the game world has been expanded from the previous game: three entire pages of inventory have been dedicated to collectable items that have been scattered around town, each seemingly benign in appearence, but given an subtle eerie description.
