Combat is fluid, sound design on point, and it just feels so RIGHT when you nail your timing and combos to inflict damage on your enemies.

Shank is a side-scrolling, beat 'em up game with a striking comic book art style and over-the-top, violent gameplay.

The general feedback and sensation of combat is fabulous, as is the voice acting - you generally don't need an excuse to go on a murderous rampage, but the game does a decent job of investing you in the character's story.

Klei Entertainment’s signature art style—later seen in titles like Mark of the Ninja and Don’t Starve—was already in full bloom here.

Nevertheless, this game is still pretty fun and it even has a co-op campaign too.

The background music supports it much and feels like a neverending Quentin Tarantino soundtrack.
