If you want to play a good game that introduces you to basic linux ideas and/or makes you feel like hacker, play Hacknet instead.
-Tons of complexity and intricate attacks you can pull off along with different mission types to encourage different tactics (not to mention the online sandbox of hunting other players or setting up sites/repositories).
Scanning targets, chaining exploits, gaining access, cleaning logs, upgrading your setup, and building better tools gives the game a real sense of progression.
You basically have a whole online gaming world with computers, servers, switches, firewalls, routers etc and it all communicates with each other and you can browse a virtual world wide gray web lol
