While Nintendo goes above and beyond in smothering the flames of fan creativity, taking them down with the excuse of "IP protection", SEGA has embraced fan creations for the most part and this has had positive outcomes: From the creation of Sonic Amateur Games Expo (SAGE) that led to the development of many games and boosting their visibility, to the same fans ending up working for SEGA to create one of the best 2D Sonic games.
The OST offers a lot of variety, mixing calm atmospheric melodies with fast strung guitar action and groovy techno funk.
the gameplay is fun, and it encourages weapon swapping a lot. my favorites were the bat and the board, and the magical girl one was really fun if a little intentionally gamebreaking lol. i was frustrated at first by losing stuff i really liked, but i learned to just accept the ebb and flow of item pickups. near the end of the game i was just kinda going "huh. an item pickup. this must be what they want you to have here. neat." and picking it up even if i was sacrificing magical spark for, like, sword spark. kinda gave me an on-the-fly mentality like spark himself haha
The Story: Is small and very entertaining, the banter between characters can be very interesting or really funny, the visuals are amazing and high quality.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
