The Vagrant

I found the story interesting enough that I was curious what would happen next.

While the game is an obvious love letter to Vanillaware in its art direction and gameplay, it really stands on its own with its own unique characters and lore.

I was really reminded of Odin Sphere with the 2D side scrolling combo-based action with the ability to pause and use items in the middle of combat.

I actually really enjoyed the art style and how it seemed to be in tribute to Vanillaware games.

The energetic metal soundtrack, gorgeous artwork, and fairly fun combat system made for an enjoyable experience, one that was well worth the 1-2 USD that I paid for it.

From the "sex sells" school of character design to the slightly weird monsters and backgrounds and even the way you can cook food - The Vagrant hits all the right notes.
