I can't stress enough how important that is in a game that plays like this, and for gameplay that goes as fast as this.
As anyone can see from the trailer, the old-school 3-color palette works wonders, and comes along with a nice, catchy soundtrack, and a glorious hellish background.
The soundtrack and visuals are pretty good (just getting it out of the way), although it's a little difficult to tell what is going on due to blinding effects.
This game really hit a sweet spot where things don't feel too easy, and things don't feel too hard, with respect to achieving things that help you noticeably progress through the campaign.
First, even though I'm a keyboard and mouse person, I do sometimes play with a controller for comfort, and while this game technically is playable with a controller, you'll lose a lot of performance, due to the aiming and moving both being mapped on the same stick.
