What players think
The recurring themes across 112 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Most of my actual 12 hours play (out of 17 total hours, ~5 were spent idle/afk) were spent in 3 sessions over 2 days; once you get into the game it's one of those that you want to get just ONE more thing done, and game progress is fluid as far as the combination of your luck (finding items that are random), guidance regarding use of storyline items (pay attention to the book when you find new things!), and side quests/achievements (for achis there is an excellent guide and there is one place where you'll probably need it).
After getting all of the achievements the game doesn't have much replayability outside of the few workshop items, which are a nice add-on to the base game.
tldr: this is a top-notch puzzle game with a very likable main character, a scrappy little cat, some randomness to spawn of interactable items, and a nice, mellow soundtrack.
Visually, The Herbalist embraces an anime-inspired art style that emphasizes warmth and expressiveness over realism.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
