What players think
The recurring themes across 239 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
In my opinion, it was far superior in almost every way with both factions looking and playing completely different from each other and the graphics being overhauled.
If you missed the last two games, those were 8-Bit Armies and 8-Bit Hordes respectively, with each taking a different sort of spin on the classic gameplay found in some of the more popular RTS titles out there (hey, can you tell which one is like Command & Conquer and which one is like Warcraft?).
8-Bit Invaders features a few different modes for you to mess around in: 2 different five to ten hour long campaigns, a typical skirmish mode, cross-game multiplayer (between Armies, Hordes, Invaders, and the free multiplayer-only "Arena" client), a co-op campaign, and perhaps the most noteworthy new addition to the series, the Metaverse mode.
There is even an online co-op or versus mode available for you to play in as well.
Yeah, you guessed it, the soundtrack by Frank Klepacky!
The only real highlight here is a unit they copied from SC2 (the Reaper only with a melee attack), which can jump up and down cliffs, just like its better pendant.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 5 sampled reviews and are not shown.
