The vast variety in new presents and new earthlings make it extremely refreshing, even for new comers; and there's lot of replayablity with unlocking new hat upgrades (small bonuses) and characters each time you beat the game.
The gameplay was just as fun as I remember from the good 'ol Genesis era.
The game loves you and your friends, it is waiting for you, giving a bunch of additional innovations for the coop.
The music is so funky, graphics are comic like, colorful and pleasant and the game is mechanically fluid to play, which is welcome compared to the rather slow original Megadrive game.
The soundtrack is equally successful in preserving the series' unmistakable identity.
Along with the free updates of extra hard and endless modes, 9 characters and 4-player online (2-player local split) it just seems like a no-brainer if you're a fan of the original.
