What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Keep an eye out for that, I feel like this game would be great with a lot more polish, less blinding visuals, and fixes regarding the problems listed above, and probably a few more.
There are lots of slow sections, and the player feels like they were built for a different genre of FPS.
The Portal influence is obvious, and although Red Trigger lacks Portal’s comedic narrative, the puzzles are enough to scratch the Portal itch.
The puzzles are not inherently difficult, coupled with game length will mean that once you've played the game (or found the achievements and 100%'d it if you're a completionist like me), there is absolutely no replayability.
The subtle weapon animations, music, and sound design all contribute to a pleasant atmosphere, and the finale brings some fun intensity into the mix.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
