I also need to mention that this is the last Total War game that I actually cared about the characters, because having good stat generals/family members actually matters in this game.
It's just so fun to watch and play, and it truly feels like 2 armies clashing in a way that no game since has been able to quite replicate, even with the dated graphics and limited animations.
If I had no internet and I'd have to choose a game, I'd pick Medieval II, I think you get a lot of replayability for your money (get it on sale btw) with the many countries of the grand campaign, expansion and mods.
The charming UI, to the immersive music, to the campaign design, to even small details like armor upgrades being visible on units.
This game has so many cool factions, great multiplayer, and I have been thoroughly addicted to the grand campaign at so many points over the last nearly two decades.
