Personally, I think it’s a great RTS on its own, even without necessarily relying on the Halo franchise, since its gameplay is really fun, it has an engaging campaign and solid strategy mechanics overall.

I recommend playing with an Xbox controller as the game was built from the ground up for Xbox 360, so in my opinion, Xbox controller feels best over M&K controls.
The definitive edition brings a fresh coat of paint to the classic 2009 experience with improved textures and a much smoother frame rate.
It may be more "casual" than StarCraft, but the music and sound design are perfect.
I did do the campaign on co-op, and that was fun!
