Oh and I wish it had a stage select mode. (maybe as an unlockable?) The hidden third difficulty option is everything you would want it to be and it elevates the whole game.

On-point rendition of late 80s/early 90s action-platformer, the few modern-esque tropes and mechanics are selective and integrated with a lot of care.

A bunch of shmovement tools that come with shcommitment, small hitboxes but no dodging i-frames, special attacks using non-auto-regenerating resources, sanded-off difficulty spikes with still some potential RNG surprises, and in the audiovisual department, fun YM2612-style soundtracks paired the developer's unique art style.
