The Extinction Points systems is very addicting, and make the game even more enjoyable, without adding the need to "grind" for points.

There were a couple of things that made this game stand out for me back in the days, obviously we had the whole time travel and a plot twist at the end, I genuinely love the ending of this game, always gives me a sense of melancholy and makes me wish that the series endured (I don't count Dino Crisis 3 or the arcade games, not a true continuation)
