What players think
The recurring themes across 131 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The tactical combat is much richer and not restricted to one dimension as is the case with DD.
For example, with Storm Guard, by mid to late game you have more possibilities for skill loadouts for synergies between members of your team.
The story telling is good and the voiceover is done well, but I'll mention it in cons too.
The Storm Guard appears deceptively simple, but if you get past the one-man-studio Unity graphics, the production value is rock solid.
There are enough classes to run into (while you pick from a randomized recruit roster, the availability of specific classes is random) to give enough replayability for several runs if only to learn the strength and weaknesses of each class.
One of the ways it accomplishes its goal at being a pretty solid strategy/RPG hybrid is its way of throwing difficulty at the player immediately from the start, with the first area you bring your small little team of dudes to.
