Stronghold HD (2012)

Stronghold actually has working gameplay and thus it doesn't need to just throw more crap at the wall in hopes something sticks.

And both the graphics and music do a solid job of creating a thoroughly medieval atmosphere.

This Quartet together with other minor supporting characters like sir Longarm accompany you through this long and difficult campaign and make you care about the story and what you are doing.

Every decision matters, but the game's soothing soundtrack and charming graphics, combined with the focus on placement and management over micromanaging and quick reflexes gives it a very laidback feeling compared to a lot of modern RTS installments.

The campaign missions provide a good mix of challenges, while the free-build and combat modes offer plenty of replay value.

Multiplayer modes further extend the game’s replayability, allowing players to test their skills against friends or other online opponents, which adds a competitive edge to the strategic depth.
