Return to Dark Castle is a super challenging retro platformer that will crush your soul even on Novice (easiest) difficulty.
It had perfectly realized the gameplay from the monochrome originals, now in detailed 640x480 color, and layered on creative, well-designed levels that fit perfectly within that context while also including all the levels from the first two games.
I’m grateful for modern controller support, achievements, and the addition of auto-save when returning to Anterooms, but the developers stopped short of the quality-of-life improvements players reasonably expect.
Dragon's Lair-This is a bright and very colorful/cute game at it's face value and with it's visuals.
The game is full of secrets, and you need to find everything in the Advanced difficulty in order to get the true ending.
Now you won't be hearing monologues about the many ways to eat Spam or encounter bridges passed by favorite colors here, but the general story is fitting to it's medieval setting JUST enough that it feels like a cute fantasy story, but the humor and subtle stupidity (the fun kind) is shown in the games text, sound effects, visuals etc that you can CLEARLY tell this game doesn't take itself seriously at all, and for a game like this?
