Experimenting with ship loadouts is fun as well, showing up with alien tech that dwarfs human understanding and beating tribute out of a planet was a lot of fun.

I found myself lost in the stories, I'm a sucker for a well done sci-fi plot and this is an amazing example of literature integrated into a game, as a game.

With dozens of ships, and even more ship outfits - weapons, engines, power sources, shielding, heat management systems, all fully interchangeable - you can build your ships to be however you like.

Ships and battles remain readable, and the restrained graphics help make Endless Sky accessible on modest computers.

This is a complicated game with a very steep learning curve, but incredibly rewarding when you do figure it out.

There are no microtransactions or anything, so it is not one of those "for free" games.
