havent finished the game yet. ive been playing on normal and playing on and off as i watch stuff. so far i am completely obsessed with the idea of progression being a balance of both defending and increasing the difficulty in a way that feels really great. played the prior game from this dev and i really liked it. really fun for the price

Those might be the reason x3 costs thing exists, so the dev's efforts and unique visuals will be admired for longer, because once that sector is done-you're through and will never see them reappear (unless you would want to play that sector again or play randomizer mode).
