Hylics, developed and published by Mason Lindroth, is one of those rare indie games that feels less like a traditional RPG and more like stepping into a lucid dream sculpted from painted clay, strange poetry, and half-familiar mechanics.

The art, animation, OST, and dialogue are all immaculate and once you get over the initial strangeness of it all, it's very immersive and cohesive.

Combined with the ethereal, sometimes discordant soundtrack, the game fosters an atmosphere that seems to bypass rational thought and appeal directly to the subconscious.

I slightly prefer it to Felvidek, cause of how much more optional combat is here, and the added options in terms of moves, party members, and items.

sure, the whole game had more balance issues along the way, having incredibly weird difficulty curve going up and down like a rollercoaster, and the skills were randomly thrown at you where you didn't use half of them mostly, but the progression was rewarding and the atmosohere with the art and the music made it incredibly fun to explore
