I find the characters and voice acting great, in games like these (I'm throwing Disgaea in this category as well) the story is never really that great, so its never been the reason I like these sort of games.
The PC port contains way faster loading times, mouse+keyboard support, gamepad support, great optimization (beat the game using an 8800GTX which is nearly 10 years old), and 60FPS!!
